Jailbreak will get you banned

Aug 23, 10 Jailbreak will get you banned

Remember that PS3 Jailbreak we reported on last week? Yeah, well the developers have reported huge sales figures and said that their USB device has completely sold out from their online store. This jailbreak opens the floodgates for downloaded and illegal software piracy on the previously impenetrable device… even though it is being sold as a way to run content from the hard disk, rather then from blu-ray.

However, Sony have come up with a plan. These devices are easily detected by the Sony servers, so they’re going to ban anyone caught using the device on PSN. The xbox 360 has had hacks for some time, but a lot of the 360 hackers use custom firmware. The PS3 jailbreak only lets the system run code from a hard disk, but it still doesn’t allow custom firmware. This means there’s no way around PSN for hackers yet.

This means while hacking is now available, it’s not nearly as convenient as it is for 360 hackers. And Sony are nipping it in the bud early. I would expect to be reporting waves of bans before the release of big games like GT5 and Killzone 3 next year.

  2. There is a complete sub-industry in the field of the cellular cell phone sector spot related to the jailbreak or unlocking of the cellular phones so that they can be utilized on any mobile network, and current Supreme Court selections in the USA handed down have confirmed that the jailbreak industry is legal and legitimate. That is, finish-person prospects are rather in their legal rights to do what they wish to their cellular cellphone handset to permit the phone to work on other network carriers which is generally recognized as jailbreak or unlocking the network block.
