There is a storyline, two opposing men, one a bird looking thing and the other a spider looking thing, want to woo the new woman thats in the area. The good bird guy sings sweet symphonies while the evil spider sings heavy metal! Surprisingly she chooses the good guy (terrible decision I know) and they serenade each other. In a rage of jealousy, the evil spider concocts a poison that steals all the music from the world. You, as good Mr Bird guy, have to get it all back!

So lets jump into the game play. You have to collect items that are spread out through each level. You do so by running along a variety of strings. As you run along, you can strum from top to bottom to jump up and strum from bottom to top to fall onto a lower level. Each item generates a sound to go along with the song belonging to that level. This is the easy part. Throughout the levels there are strings that you have to hit at a specific time! This is done in sync with the level music. These generate a sound also.

The early levels are easy enough. Each level is some classical music. You start off playing Beethoven’s 5th Symphony which is awesome to say the least. But as the levels progress, you get more difficult additions. Spiders (the percussion section of the symphony) jump at you. Just as they begin to fly towards the screen, you have to hit them. This is a lot harder than it sounds! You have to make sure to do everything in sync!

Every bridge of difficulty is met with a boss fight. The evil spider dude plays a beat with his minions that you have to match perfectly to hurt him. This was my favorite level of the game to be honest. It was the same with Guitar hero boss fights (VS Tom Morello in GH3).  As you win, you gain followers and a crown! If you lose, you get angry red notes that overwhelm you if you do too badly.

All in all I really liked the game, it was a simple concept but leads to a challenging layout. Playing classical music is a plus for me. Games will always appeal to me if they are a bit more unique than the norm. Like the appeal of the GH/Rock Band games you feel more involved with a game when you feel you are playing the music. An enormous amount of portable games cannot pull off the attention grabbing addiction that you need to succeed on a portable platform. I feel Maestro! Green Groove does. Word of advice, play with earphones. Enhances the experience. Keep up the good work guys! Hope to see more additions of the game.

I will give it a decent 4/5 because it managed to fully grasp my attention. It is a good game for the platform I felt.

Metal Gear from Konami, Kingdom Hearts from Square Enix, music stuff from Activision and Harmonix, Assassin’s Creed from Ubisoft, Saints Row from THQ, and a new Resident Evil game from Capcom are among the many, many third party titles listed for the new device.

Indeed for the first time in years Nintendo have managed to impress with their show, actually bringing content gamers want as opposed to hardware kids and middle aged women want.

Not only that, Kid Icarus is coming to the console – a huge boost for the machine, even outside of Japan.

The 3.5″ screen will let you play games in the third dimension. 3D depth can be adjusted with a slider for those of us with trouble inputting photons without the aid of glasses. Online services will be free, and like the Wii, the device will be constantly connected to the cloud and take updates whether or not you’re using it. Gyro sensors inside will let developers take advantage of tilt mechanisms like the iPhone or SIXAXIS, and the grunt powering graphics has been improved – though Nintendo didn’t provide specs.

On top of huge third party support, a cool device and a lot of genuinely good technology to power the device, Nintendo also say that it’ll be able to play 3D movies, which undoubtedly made James Cameron wet himself in delight.

The Wii got some face time too, with some excellent software announcements. Donkey Kong returns in ‘Country Returns’ alongside a sequel to the party titles Wii Sports and Wii Resort, Mario Sports Mix… featuring Mario, unsurprisingly. Wii will also get The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, a long-awaited Zelda title on the console. Frankly the most exciting part software-wise, though, is a reason to dust off the old Wii. Yes, it’s the wonderful sequel to Goldeneye, featuring split screen multiplayer and the bathroom air vent kill.

Yes, for the first time in what feels like years, Nintendo actually did a good job at E3, impressing everyone with a display of software that’s worth buying. It took a few years, but owning a Wii since launch has finally paid off!

You may be thinking ”June 16th? That’s E3, right?” And yes, you would be right. It’s also when the Official Nintendo Magazine is set to reveal a ”world exclusive”.

All the same, Im sure that this ”new game” will get more attention at E3 than in ONM.
So. What’ll it be? A New IP? Pikmin 3? New Starfox? Kid Iccarus Wii? The list is endless.
And of course, the new Zelda will more than likely be revealed at E3.

Did they run out of creativity when it came to naming these games anymore? FireRed and LeafGreen, then HeartGold and SoulSilver, and now just plain Black and White. Come on people…

Grab your Pokeballs folks, the latest Pokémon adventure, Pokémon HeartGold and Pokémon SoulSilver, have now arrived in Europe for the Nintendo DS packed with new features. From the earliest days of Nintendo’s portable Game Boy system, Pokémon games have made their mark. Now Nintendo has released completely updated versions of two classic Pokémon games. The new HeartGold Version and SoulSilver Version games inspired by the originals have evolved to include updated graphics and sound as well as intuitive new controls that use the Nintendo DS touch screen.

Key to the game is the new Pokéwalker accessory which will allow the player to interact with your Pokémon beyond the realm of the main game itself! The brand new Pokéwalker accessory is a pedometer that is exclusively packaged with, and only for Pokémon HeartGold Version and Pokémon SoulSilver Version. It allows players to bring their favourite Pokémon with them wherever they go. Players can transfer a Pokémon to the Pokéwalker and then simply walk around in real life. By walking, players earn Watts that can be used to encounter and catch wild Pokémon or search for hidden items. The Pokémon in the Pokéwalker will gain Experience Points as the player walks, and can even go up one level when they are transferred back into the game. Players who meet another person with a Pokéwalker can also connect them wirelessly, where each of the players will then receive a gift!

The games also features detailed graphics that show off the hundreds of Pokémon that players can catch and train, as well as all the different environments. For the first time, players can interact with all their favourite Pokémon outside of battle by selecting the leader from their party to follow behind them on their travels.

As always, trading and battling with friends is a big part of the Pokémon experience. Players with a wireless broadband Internet connection can interact with their friends who have Pokémon HeartGold, SoulSilver, Diamond, Pearl or Pokémon Platinum Version games to trade or battle Pokémon via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service. Players also can battle and trade with others via a local wireless connection.

The new Pokéathlon – A sports festival in which your Pokémon compete against others in Speed, Power, Skill, Stamina, and Jump performance courses. Select three suitable Pokémon for each course to participate in these action-packed events and earn Athlete Points as you compete, which can then be exchanged for items. In the Hurdle Dash, for example, you will race against other teams on a track with Hurdles along the way. In the Ring Drop, your goal is to make other Pokémon drop off the Ring, or practice your snowball throwing in Snow Throw and see how many times you can hit other Pokémon. Just make sure to select Pokémon with the right attributes to help you to succeed…

The updated Pokégear feature- A tool that will be indispensible on your adventure. This device combines a phone, a map and even a radio, which add an important dimension to gameplay. You can exchange phone numbers and call Trainers you meet in the game. Sometimes, they’ll call to challenge you for a battle. Use the stylus to learn about various places around the region and upgrade your Pokégear with the Radio Card to enjoy different radio shows.

Create Poké Balls – By collecting Apricorns, found all around the Johto region, you can make seven types of special Poké Balls, including the Lure Ball, useful for catching landed Pokémon while fishing, the Level Ball, good at catching Pokémon that are at lower levels than yours and the Love Ball – good at catching Pokémon of the opposite gender!

“It’s clear that Apple is taking share from Sony’s PlayStation Portable, and to a smaller level, the Nintendo DS,” says Flurry Analytics’ report. Sony’s market share fell from 20% in 2008 to 11% in 2009, and Nintendo fell from 75% in 2008 to 70% in 2009.

“It’s getting to the point where Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft need to be looking seriously at the iPhone and iPod Touch; Apple’s devices single-handedly gobbled up 5% of all video game revenue in 2009. That’s up from just 1% in 2008.” The report went on to say “Apple has already established broad third-party game publisher support. With the iPad featuring a larger screen and more processing power, games on the tablet take a step closer to PC and console gaming. Unless the other major video game platform providers (ie, Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft) respond accordingly, Apple could continue to roll up video game market share. With these figures, our main finding is that iPhone (and iPod touch) is a gaming platform to be reckoned with,” Farago wrote. “Controlling 5% t revenue of a $10 billion industry in just a year and a half is significant.”

It’s hardly a shock to anyone that the 79c pricetag on small, puzzle type games are popular on a platform that’s in the hands of nearly every single student and yuppie the world over. What’s more interesting is the fact that Apple are sitting up and paying attention to gaming for the first time in their illustrious career making hardware and software. OS X will be the next battleground in an attempt to take market share from Windows by bringing Valve’s acclaimed Steam platform to OS X, also bringing Source-engine based games with it. Those with licenses for games on Windows can re-download their titles in Steam for Mac entirely free, too.

“The fact of the matter is we know we create great content for younger consumers, we know we’ve got great content for more casual players, and we want fantastic content for that more active player who loves Metroid or Zelda but maybe also wants something like a BioShock 2 to play as well,” says Regie. “And we also recognise that we don’t create that type of content ourselves. We’re not good at it and it’s not a key focus area. So we want that content on our platform, so we have to court third-party developers and encourage them to make [those games], but it also has to be financially viable for them as well.”

So what to take from this? Nintendo sucks at making Bioshock 2. That, or maybe Nintendo are going to focus a bit more on garnishing the third parties with love and attention in future, making them create new franchises and port existing ones onto whatever Nintendo do next (hint: Wii 2).

So now where in ‘super now land’ and I still really don’t care about Samus or black Samus or her little Jelly fish friends. I can however see how someone else mite get excited by Nintendo’s new third person take on the franchise and in that spirit here’s the newest trailer for Metroid Other M!
