Tim Schaffer weighs in on Activision vs Infinity Ward

Double Fine games founder and creator of games like Psychonauts and Brutal Legend Tim Schaffer has had felt first hand the wrath of Activision’s anger – So if anyone can comment on yesterday’s turfing out of Jason West and Vince Zampella by Activision its probably not him….but that didn’t stop. You may remember Brutal Legend was originally set to be published by the monolithic Activision but decided rather rashly to bounce the title and its developers to the curb after a merger with Vivendi.

Fair enough, so Tim of Legend decided to bring the game to EA who opened their arms to such a prolific game designer like Mr Schaffer. Then in a move that seemed to stink of ” if we can’t have him no one can’ Activision tried to sue Schaffer for doing so! Nice. So on his frequently hilarious Twitter feed Schaffer weighed in on the IW debacle yesterday, tweeting this:

“Getting mad at Activision for this kind of thing is like getting mad at an ape for throwing feces. It’s just how the beast communicates”

So, is this whole thing Infinity Wards own fault – a byproduct of IW ‘sleeping with the enemy’? Maybe that’s a little unfair.

Then theres the reports online of Activision’s failure to pay any royalties to the Modern Warfare devs!

Nothing official from either side yet; but when there is we’ll get it to you. In the mean time there is enough speculation going round to keep ya busy.
