Alan Wake trailer gets people all excited

Everyones excited about Alan Wake….except me. I don’t know why but it just doesn’t look all that interesting.

It reeks of taking itself a little too seriously and I haven’t seen anything combat wise that makes me want to pre order. I’m hoping I’m wrong, in fact most sites are basically telling me exactly that; but my issue is that Microsoft need a mid year hit and whether they like it or not, Remedy are now in the position of having to supply one. I just hope the gameplay is up to it.

New trailer below, featuring moody visuals, moody characters and ‘the darkness’.

  1. Ah I know you will get this, it’s just suffered from being developed for so long and also the change from sandbox to story driven, that’s a major change and the story needs to work of it will flop like a dead fish.
I hope to see a review up here soon!

TWHR, like, what the hell?? You distinct lack of open-mindness and fanboyism is sickening. I think Alan Wake looks great and for many legit reasons: not because it’s NOT on the PS3 – try opening your mind for once

“It reeks of taking itself a little too seriously” is the funniest excuse to bash a game I have ever heard XD

It doesnt do it for me either. I also think guns as opposes to torches are better for eliminating enemies. Torchgun lol.

  5. It doesnt look too promising in the gameplay department, and it reminds me of Silent Hill 2 a lot.
No doubt the plot will be interesting, but i just can’t take another Interactive Movie.

*crawls back into corner, waiting for new Zelda*

    :P

  6. It looks interesting for those who liked Fahrenheit or Heavy Rain. Everyone else need not apply.

I do like that the trailer feels grown up – like the games industry isn’t for kids anymore, but rather it’s a real proper industry that can make trailers like movies used to (reveal the idea but not the entire plot)…

  7. I really enjoyed Fahrenheit (mainly because that sort of Moral Dilema in games hadn’t been done) but when I played Heavy rain, i just wasn’t having any fun, it felt like a chore to play.

  8. Dude! I have an Xbox and I love it. I’m not judging Alan Wake it just doesn’t look that interesting to me, it could be becuase the devs dnt wanna give too much away but I feel like iv been looking at the same footage for 3 years!! Make no mistake, I will be purchasing this game just like iv purchased Mass Effect 2 and splinter cell. I do have a bit of a chip on my shoulder with Microsoft since ODST but I’m still a massive Xbox fan!

I downloaded Fahrenheit from Xbox originals – played it for bout a half hour and thought it was the biggest pile of pig shit I ever played so I reckon Alan Wake can go jump in a lake. Whacked out concepts never really work for me. Just give me a gun and I’ll pop some heads. Although Silent Hill 2 is still one of my favs. But Silent Hill has a very well constructed horror plot of its own. Its original without being dilluded – as in thinking its something that its not. You cant combine mainstream art and videogames. Their an art of their own.

  10. Wow this is a great resource.. I’m enjoying it.. good article
