Differences announced between 360 and PS3 versions of FFXIII

I don’t know what this means really besides the obvious fact that you wont have to change disc on PS3 FF but I know some of the folks reading are looking for every nugget of info revealed about Square Enix’s newest off the wall hair opera.

So, in an interview with Famitsu.com SE confirmed the following [Source - finalfantasy-xiii.net]

Square Enix has just confirmed a couple of differences between the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 release of Final Fantasy XIII. In an interview in Famitsu they state that the video and audio is compressed on the Xbox 360 DVDs while the Playstation 3 version will be uncompressed and appear on a dual-layer blu-ray disc. The 360 version will obviously be released on multiple DVDs. This means that the uncompressed game will be 25GB minimum.

So there you have it, is it going to make an odds? Will the compression make any real difference? Does the fact that the game appears on 1 disc and is a spiritual PS3 exclusive sway you on what platform you’re going to buy it on?

Let us know.

  1. It says video and audio compressed, is that just the FMVs then? As that isn't so much of an issue than say the actual textures or soundtrack.

Many 360 fans say disc swapping isn't an issue as its only once per 20 hours or whatever but I wonder from a development point of view how it changes things, do you have to alter the game storyline so that you don't go back to places that are only stored on other discs??? It wasn't a big issues for FF in the PS1 days as the game was on every disc only the FMV's were different.

I'm guessing for those that are lucky enough to own both consoles PS3 will be the choice.

  2. In my mind (and millions of Asian dudes and dudettes) it's only coming out on PS3.

  3. This could become the most scrutinised game yet!

And it's only blooming well out next week, anyone can't wait and importing?!

i think I just fell over with boredom
