GTA: The Ballad of Gay Paris (rumour)

The folks over at NextGamer (site in Dutch) reckon the new GTAIV release, the Ballad of Gay Tony, could be hinting towards the next full GTA game.

Like previous installments, Rockstar run their titles by releasing a full game (GTA, GTA2, GTA3 and GTA4) followed by other titles based on the same engine (London 1969, Vice City, San Andreas, etc.). Going by the same rules, using the RAGE engine, it’s likely R* are working on a similar idea this time around. But now, rumours are surfacing that the title could go beyond America and finally arrive in European soil in a 3D game (London 1969 was based on the top-down PS1 titles).

Its over! Apparently...

Its over! Apparently...

According to the site, a poster from the Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Episodes manual contains the following, “Liberty City, it’s over! Next stop. Next stop. Seagull”. The poster then has arrows pointing to what appears to be Paris, in France.

The site goes on to reference the idea that maybe this a reference to the movies “New York, I love you” and “Paris, Je T’aime”.

…of course this is only a rumour, and as such leads the site to end with the idea that maybe the game will be in London, which would make sense given Rockstars penchent for re-making their own cities in new, fancy engines. Watch this space, but I can’t imagine much coming soon. Microsoft paid for three pieces of DLC, and we’ve only had two so far. I can’t see rockstar turning out another city so quick while they work on DLC for the 360.
