Killzone 3 in December
Amidst a flurry of rumours and speculation as to a big reveal from Sony regarding a new sequel in 2010 (which ended up being SOCOM 4, by Zipper), one of the hotly-tipped names being thrown around was “Killzone 3″. Killzone 2 was only released a year ago, in February 2009. Why so soon on a new title?
Well, Killzone 2 cost in the region of €30million. A lot of money. No doubt the platinum-selling game, and accompanying DLC made Guerilla Games and Sony some money thereafter. However, something with a slightly-lessened production budget and timeline would have made similar money, garnishing larger profits. So, utilising the amazing technology crammed into the KZ2 disk, it’s likely that Sony are pushing for a sequel. On top of that, the Killzone brand is hot at the minute, so another title would make sense as the KZ2 fans start to dwindle in the face of so many competitive rival titles to play online with (namely Call of Duty and Battlefield).
Killzone 2 was a flagship title for Sony, pushing the boundaries of the Playstation 3′s capabilities. Not only that, it pushed forward the idea of high definition gaming with lush graphics and audio queues. Killzone 3 aims to do something similar for Sony. Rumours suggest the game will boast full stereoscopic 3D abilities. Not only that, it will utilise the Sony motion control system, rumoured to be called “Arc”. These same mutterings and utterances are suggesting we’ll see this in the coming months, which slots in nicely to the E3 timeframe.
I wonder if you will control the Arc Towers with……..wait for it, wait for it …..the Arc?
I just blew your mind didn’t I ?!
TWHR is here all week folks…
