PSN updates change dates

PSN updates have long been a traditional Thursday update. Even on shoryuken, there’s an update to let you all know what’s coming. Just like Microsoft’s XBL updates earlier in the week. Well, now PSN updates are moving to Wednesdays, and while most suggest that this is to be more in-line with Microsoft, Sony suggest otherwise.

Mike Kebby from Sony says it’s because of the US Store updates, which now arrive on Tuesdays, “so a Wednesday store publish makes more sense” and the reason the US Store updates are moving to Tuesdays is because “that’s when UMDs are released over [in the US]”. Also, most of mainland Europe gets new games released on a Wednesday.

“We also moved,” said Mike, “because if we had stayed on a Thursday publish day, we would have been too far behind the US, and I know a lot of users wouldn’t be happy about that.” Never a truer word has been spoken.
