Sony GDC: Get a move on with playstation move!
So Sony had their GDC10 event last night and if you didn’t watch it live there are still some live blogs out there for you to read.
A quick breakdown of what happened: Peter Dille Sony’s Vice President of marketing talked about the momentum Sony have been building, he says (quite rightly) that they have a great year of releases and its only March! Heavy Rain was commercial and critical success,GT5 will be worth the wait, God of War 3 is going to blow us away and oh yeah, their releasing the motion controller under a new name. Playstation Move.
Dille goes on to make a pretty compelling argument on how this is real ‘Next Gen motion control’. He speaks about how the Move and EYE will be released in a bundle costing less the $99 and will make Playstation 3 the place to go for both Casual and Hardcore gamers. He then goes on to showcase some of the titles. (Some video’s below courtesy of Kotaku and G4TV)
Some of the titles are your standard Wii style games but with serious graphical finesse;two games in particular have tickled my intrigue bone: Socom 4 and Little Big Planet.
There is something that clicks here for me, Sony have made a somewhat bland product and injected enough intrigue to make it worth talking about. I love the idea of Socom 4 being fully playable with normal controller or Motion. This in itself is a step in the right direction for motion control. Still there is a lot more stuff we could have heard about at this event.
Wheres Killzone 3? 3D? Resistance? PSN Premium? Slightly dissapointing but at least this motion control stuff is out of the way for E3!
What do you folks think?
Check out the video’s below, they show more then I can explain. Enjoy
Move Boxing
Wii Sports resort. I mean Move Sports

It was good of Peter to give credit to Nintendo and then I liked how he basically said people who get bored of the Wii will come over to PS3
Don’t think much of the name and I wonder what the price tag over here will be, I take it you need 2 controllers for a lot of games but you only get 1 in the bundle???
As crap as the name is I think your right, it was a pretty humble presentation. Handled it quiet well.
Price point will be interesting all right.
The fact that you can add this feature to existing games is a big boost over Natal, and I wish I’d seen more of SOCOM, as perhaps that will bridge the gap somewhat to those PC players who insist that mouse and keyboard are the only way to truly play a FPS.
