Tales from Liberty City coming to PC and PS3
Sam Houser of Rockstar games has announced that GTA4 fans will soon be able to enjoy the episodic DLC that 360 owners have been playing for months.
“It’s been a long time coming, but we are proud to finally deliver Episodes From Liberty City for the PC and PlayStation 3,” said Sam Houser. “We appreciate the patience of our PlayStation 3 and PC fans worldwide, and we look forward to putting the games in your hands this March.” [kotaku]
It will be available on retail disc or from PSN on March 30th.
So against timed exclusives!!
Interesting because Microsoft threw $50mil at GTA4 to get some DLC content. It seems it may not have been enough to keep it “exclusive” after all..
I suppose there are benefits all round, MS gets DLC early, Rockstar get money upfront to develop the DLC, then Sony get the DLC later for no outlay and Rockstar can make more money off that.
MS only gain if it made people purchase a 360 over a PS3, thing is I'm not sure GTA4 was “the game” to sway people from one console to the other.
Yet, I don't understand why if M$ threw money at them to get the DLC, why was it released only on 360 and not for PC players via Games for Windows Live?
my guess would be that they thought it would be a huge system seller, as I've said on other forums, PS3 exclusives normally mean that, they aren't on PC as well but as lot of 360 exclusives are on PC too which to me isn't really exclusive.
by making it only on 360 it would perhaps sway PC owners to get an Xbox over a PS3. risky ploy and I have no idea if it worked.
