Must.Eat.Birds review
Must Eat Birds is a charming iPhone/iPod game that’s as cheap as chips. Literally. For €0.79 you get a whole lot of mobile fun. It’s by far the best iPhone game I’ve played…. so far!Developed by Media Tonic, Must Eat Birds has a simple premise of having a slingshot, with a monster in it. The monster sponge thing’s name is Nomster, and you have to fire him at the incoming birds that fall down the screen. He has to eat them by being fired into them to stop them getting to the bottom, where they’ll eat the cake!
The game features nine mission stages, four challenge stages, individual achievements and a whole cast of mad-looking birdies!
The game’s stages are nice and bright, but the gameplay remains the same throughout. Some variation comes when you can bounce Nomster around, or have one Nomster eat another one to become a bigger Nomster. Great fun!
This game is absolutely perfect for the bus, car, train etc. The audio and visuals are an absolute treat! The font is in Japanese with the English subtitled with comic effect, which just adds to the amazing visual flare. It’s amazing because the strong visuals, plenty of audio and madness going on on-screen doesn’t give the iPhone any hiccups at all. Not one crash, which seems to be almost fine these days with app development.
Paul Croft, creative director, Mediatonic comments “Must.Eat.Birds is a key example of how we can draw on the experience gained from our client‐based day‐to‐day work to rapidly develop crazy, fun ‘middlegames’ that expand on simple play mechanics to generate games with surprising depth and longevity. Creating these fun quick‐play titles for the iPhone platform is relatively straightforward for us, so we’ll definitely be producing more in the future to supplement our bigger iPhone gaming plans.”
Great news, as this game is highly addictive. Knowing those guys will make more is great!
Check below for a little video I took of me playing it (badly). My excuse for bad play is the awkward position I was in with the camera on a tripod in front of my face. Honest.
MAXIMUM BAKE!
