Killzone 3 Gone Gold

You’ve waited patiently for 2 years, but now the time has come to return to Helghan along with Sev, Rico, Narville and the rest of the surviving ISA. Killzone 3 has officially gone gold, and will be coming to stores on February 22nd, 2011.

Picking up right where Killzone 2 left off, you return to the role of ISA Sgt. “Sev” Sevchenko. Beaten, bloody but not broken you and your fellow ISA veterans find yourself outnumbered and isolated following the events of Killzone 2. New enemies, new environments and new threats wait for you as the story for survival unfolds.

Add in 3D support including online, split-screen co-op campaign, and full PlayStation Move support including the new sharp shooter peripheral and it’s more to do than you can shake a stick at.

We’ve got two flavors of Killzone 3 for you on Feb 22nd. The standard edition and the hardcore Helghast Edition. The Helghast Edition includes the uber-cool Cloaking Helghast Marksman figure and the Helghast Helmet replica. It’s also replete with a super voucher including access to the Killzone 3 Soundtrack, dynamic theme, Retro Map Pack, and the whole slew of pre-order unlocks.

Shamrock Kings Crowned Halo Champions

The Shamrock Kings were crowned as Halo: Reach champions after defeating the Celebrity Halo: Reach Elite Spartan Squad, comprising of Idris Elba, Star of HBO’s The Wire (Stringer Bell) and BBC’s Luther; Irish rugby star Jamie Heaslip; RTE TV presenter Baz Ashmawy; and 98FM DJ Steven Cooper at the official launch event in the Odeon, which was attended by yours truly.

The winning team comprised of Zachary Campbell, Padraig Lalor, Derek Browne and Shane O’Donnell each of whom each received a copy of Halo: Reach, a limited edition Halo: Reach console and a 12 month Xbox LIVE subscription after defeating the celebrity team 74 – 11 in the final. A humiliating defeat!

The Shamrock Kings won the chance to play the Celebrity Halo: Reach Elite Spartan Squad after a nationwide search for Ireland’s best Halo players who would compete in a play-off tournament at the launch event.

Commenting at the launch event, Kieran Penwill, Ireland Country Manager for Microsoft’s Entertainment and Devices Division, said, “This has been a fantastic launch for us, with Halo: Reach proving to be extremely popular with Irish gamers. Copies of the game have been flying off the shelves across Ireland since midnight on Monday when 64 stores opened at midnight to cater for demand. To cap it all off we had a great launch where our celebrity team put up a brave fight, but were no match for Ireland’s best Halo fans, the Shamrock Kings!”

Halo: Reach might just end up being as big an event as Halo 3, with an incredible 64 stores across the country planning to open at midnight to ensure you get to go into work tomorrow morning with the reddest, blust-lust-filled eyes possible.

52 Xtravision and 12 Gamestop stores will open when the clock strikes twelve to cater for demand by the public as the exclusive Xbox 360 title is set to light tills on fire in a way that only Halo can…

Commenting ahead of the launch, Kieran Penwill, Country Manager, Entertainment and Devices, Microsoft Ireland, said, “Halo: Reach is the latest instalment to the biggest gaming franchise and it’s been called the ‘Star Wars’ for the joypad generation. Halo: Reach, developed exclusively for Xbox 360, is the blockbuster prequel to the franchise – truly Halo 4 in all but name. Halo: Reach breaks the mould for multiplayer games with groundbreaking new ways to play with and against friends over Xbox LIVE.”

Eight teams of four gamers have been selected to take part in a competition to face off against the celebrity team at the official launch event. The winners of the knockout competition will receive a limited edition Halo Reach console and a copy of the game each.

Anyone going to import this? I’m not as March 2010 is not long at all. I gotta say as was shown in a previous post the White FFXIII PS3 looks the biz, I’m with TWHR, perhaps we should go halfies on one

So Yoichi think’s they can shift 2 million units, that would be impressive as current PS3 numbers in Japan has just passed 4 million, so 1 out of every 2 Ps3 owners, nice!

I really expect a spike in PS3 sales over Christmas, who wouldn’t love a shiny new Ps3 with FFXIII for Christmas.

So, after much cajoling and messing around with various scripts, themes and functions, Shoryuken can finally settle down as this is how the site will look.

Over the coming days we’ll be adding content and building the site before beginning our full on assault on videogame culture, particularly in Ireland!

If anyone else is still interested in becoming a writer for the site please get in touch and we’ll take it from there. I’m looking for staff writers for news, reviews, previews, the lot! Even a bit of journalistic blog-style ranting would be great. Once off, or regularly!
